Chapel Hill, NC - November 13, 1999
Press Release
The Inter-Faith Council for Social Service would like to announce that our Wilson Street offices have moved to 110 West Main Street in Carrboro sometime by the end of this year.
IFC is very grateful for the opportunity to sign a lease with Covenant Properties. Our arrangement with Covenant Properties will offer the IFC temporary space for three years until permanent IFC facilities are located or construction plans are finalized.
The IFC Board of Directors has not yet made a decision about future relocation plans. Currently there is a Relocation Task Force that was organized by Chapel Hill Mayor, Rosemary Waldorf and IFC President, Rita Gray in June, 1999. The Task Force is composed of a number of representatives including the IFC, the University of North Carolina, elected officials, human service agencies, clergy, homeless persons and members of the business community. The IFC is grateful to the IFC Relocation Task Force, particularly members Missy Julian-Fox and Kathleen Lord who represent the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Chamber of Commerce, the Chapel Hill Downtown Commission and all other contributors from the business community.
This announcement is timely since our current lease arrangement with the United Church has ended because of its new construction efforts. Crisis Intervention, Food Pantry, Case Management and other related programs plus finance have also moved. IFC believes that the 110 West Main Street location is ideal for our low-income population, volunteers, staff and the public.
Staff and volunteers are planning an open house for the entire community. IFC encourages everyone to visit our new Carrboro location and to learn more about the services we provide.
