Fourteenth
Annual CROPWalk Raises Over $56,000 for Hunger Relief
Chapel
Hill, NC.
This past April, 560 walkers from twenty-five congregations,
schools, and community organizations, raised a total of
$56,097 as part of the Church World Service’s CROPWalk
2000. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds
($14,024.25) went directly to the IFC to support on-going
efforts to fight hunger in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro
community.
"We
could not have been more pleased with how smoothly the
afternoon went. Even Daylight Savings could not deter our
many dedicated volunteers and workers. The loss of an hour
was simply taken in stride," stated Leila Dillon,
Director, Finance & Administration, Inter-Faith Council.
CROPWalk
continues to be a marvelous opportunity for the community to
join together and raise awareness about the devastating
effects of hunger. This event could not be possible,
however, without the hard work of volunteers and the
generous support from local businesses and community
organizations.
The
Inter-Faith Council and their volunteers are already gearing
up for next year’s CROPWalk. Thay are planning to make the
fifteenth annual event an even bigger success than its
previous years. To all supporters and walkers, start
spreading the word and ready your shoes for CROPWalk 2001,
Sunday, April 1, 2001.
