IFC Commons (virtual) Grand Opening

January 22, 2021

  Dear IFC Community,

On January 21st we celebrated the long awaited grand opening of IFC Commons at 110 W. Main Street in Carrboro! And what a fitting week it was to celebrate this milestone for a community that gives its heart and soul to eliminating poverty and its causes.

This week honored Martin Luther King, Jr., whose life and legacy inspires us to work harder to build an anti-racist community; we ushered in new leadership at the national level; and served our members for the first time in the Kitchen and Market at our new location. The excitement of our Grand Opening was palpable.

If you have not already viewed the video, you may click here to see it. The program includes a virtual tour of the new building, a dedication, and wishes for our community! Special thanks to everyone at Figure 8 Films in Carrboro who worked with us to commemorate this special occasion.

We look forward to the day when we may gather in-person in this space you helped build. Until that time, and in the midst of serious challenges in our nation, we feel tremendously grateful to offer a dignified new space in service to this community. Now let’s celebrate!

With gratitude from all of us at IFC!
