RSVVP Ten Percent Pledge

Dear Fellow Restaurateur,

Tuesday, November 8th, will mark the 28th year for RSVVP (Restaurants Sharing V/5 plus V/5 Percent) Day, and I would like to thank all of you who have made this event so successful. If you haven’t participated before, I encourage you to join other restauranteurs in this annual fund-raiser to benefit the IFC’s hunger-relief efforts in Chapel Hill/Carrboro.

As you may know, RSVVP Day offers local residents the opportunity to help feed hungry families and individuals in our community simply by patronizing participating restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Those of us who participate agree to donate 10% of our gross receipts for the day. Since the event’s inception in 1989, this annual partnership between the restaurants, the media, and the IFC has raised over $481,000 to relieve hunger in our community. Given recent trends, this year should put that figure over a half a million dollars.

The money raised helps to support the FoodFirst programs of the Inter-Faith Council for Social Service, which includes the Community Kitchen and the Community Food Pantry.

Last year 111 restaurants participated in RSVVP, most locally owned and operated. This is a simple way to simultaneously show your restaurant’s support for the community and help feed those of our neighbors who are hungry. Many of us have an ongoing relationship with the IFC throughout the year and I encourage you to explore other ways to engage with this great organization.

Whether this will be your 1st year of participation or 20th like Top of the Hill, I encourage you to support this community effort. Please fill in the form below to help support this popular and worthwhile event. Thanks in advance for your participation.
