If you are hungry:

All are invited to eat at the Community Kitchen, located at 100 W. Rosemary Street in Chapel Hill.  

Open every day:

Monday through Friday
Lunch 11:15am-12:30pm
Dinner 6:15pm-7:00pm

Saturday
Lunch 11:15am-12:30pm

Sunday
Lunch 12:15pm-1:30pm

 

If you live or work in Chapel Hill or Carrboro, you can get groceries as often as once per month at the Food Pantry, located at 110 W. Main Street in Carrboro:

  • We open at 9:00 a.m. Monday-Friday, and usually serve 12 people each morning on a first-come first-served basis.  
  • You can also be seen on an appointment basis Monday through Friday afternoon or between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on most Tuesdays and Wednesdays (thanks to North Carolina Hillel Foundation's Project Rush Hour). Call or see the receptionist (919-929-6380, press "0") to schedule an afternoon/early evening appointment.

If you need shelter:

  • Homeless men should call Community House at 919-967-1086.
  • Homeless women (single or with children) should call HomeStart at 919-932-6025. Referrals for HomeStart are taken through the Orange County Department of Social Services.

Other services:

If you live or work in Chapel Hill-Carrboro, you may be able to receive financial assistance in a crisis situation (e.g., for rent or utilities that are past due) once each 18 months. Financial appointments are scheduled each Monday morning for the first several people who are in line when we open at 9 a.m, on a first-come first-served basis, if funding is available. Appointments must be scheduled in person.

Assistance with clothing, securing ID, medication assistance and transportation is also offered at 110 W. Main Street in Carrboro.  The is the same as for assistance with groceries.
